Inspired by a watercolor painting-palette…
My immediate reaction, while viewing the palette for Imbue, was that the colors looked like splashes of watercolor paint on a textural handmade paper. I knew immediately that I wanted this design to feel like a painting on a canvas and as I was playing around with a variety of color combinations, and relating to the differing emotions tied to each one, the name “Color Story” felt like the perfect fit. A color story is a palette of colors grouped together to make a statement. We develop color stories all the time in - fashion… home decor… art… It’s a natural way that we express ourselves - letting color tell a story about how we feel / what we like… I really loved the idea of this design tapping into that emotion. I think the story I’ve decided to tell with the palette for my sample is that Spring is here and I am thrilled to embrace it!

Color Story features a beginner friendly two-color stranded colorwork yoke, incorporating five total colors to create your (color) story. Worked seamlessly top-down in the round from the Collar to Hem, Color Story is a worsted weight sweater tee adorned with a stranded colorwork motif throughout the yoke and just above the contrast hem. This pattern is written for two body length options, Cropped or Standard and is finished with a short sleeve – perfect for layering. Because Color Story is worked from the top down, you can try it on as you go and easily adjust the finished length to your preference.

Color Story is knit mainly in the round, except for German short rows incorporated below the collar, to raise the back of the neck slightly, for a comfortable fit.

This is an Intermediate level pattern. The colorwork is charted only.
