Interpretations Vol. 6 is another magical and heartfelt collaboration between Joji Locatelli and Veera Välimäki. Like each Volume before, the 6th Volume includes six themes, six words with two designs inspired by each word, showing a personal take on each of these themes.
This year the photo shoot was set in charming Barcelona and we had the honor to have Jonna Hietala taking all the pictures for this book.

I have been wanting to do more colorwork in my designs… It’s something that makes me really happy, the ability to draw with 2 colors of yarn, to create any motif I can think of. So when I read the word ‘connection’ to use as inspiration for a design, I immediately thought of 2 strands of yarn, connected and interlocked, creating a stranded colorwork yoke.
I decided to give the classic stranded yoke a twist, though. In this design you can choose from a variety of motifs. This gives you a chance to customize your tunic so that no other will look the same. I could picture some of these tunics being worn by knitters at an event, and I could see them comparing the motifs they had chosen. Much like a knit night, festival, or knit along, the Community Tunic is about connecting with fellow knitters and celebrating a shared love of the craft.
Sizes
XS (S, M, L, XL, XXL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL). Shown in size M on a 36” bust.
Finished bust circumference: 33 (36, 39, 43, 47, 51, 55, 59, 63)” 83 (90, 98, 108, 118, 128, 138, 148, 158) cm. Recommended ease: 2-4” 5-10 cm of positive ease.

Materials
Yarn: 5 (6, 6, 7, 7, 8, 8, 9, 9) skeins of Wisconsin Woolen Spun Worsted by Barrett Wool Co (100% Wool; 250 yds 228 m / 100 g). 4 (5, 5, 6, 6, 7, 7, 8, 8) skeins in Main color / MC (sample shown in colorway Pebble), or approx. 1000 (1100, 1200, 1325, 1450, 1575, 1700, 1825, 1950) yds 912 (1003, 1094, 1208, 1322, 1436, 1550, 1664, 1778) m of worsted weight yarn; and 1 skein or approx. 250 yds 228 m in Contrasting Color / CC (sample shown in colorway Birch).
Needles: US 6 4 mm, US 7 4.5 mm and US 8 5 mm circular needles, about 32” long.
Note: The largest needles are used if you normally get tighter tension when knitting colorwork (to make it even with the gauge in plain stockinette stitch). If you always get equal tension, then you don’t need the larger size.
Other: Stitch markers including one removable, tapestry needle.

Gauge
18 sts and 29 rows = 4” 10 cm on US 7 4.5 mm needles in stockinette stitch.
