This pattern provides a solid introduction to a variety of stitches. The main stitch used in this hat is the Half Double Crochet, however there are 7 additional stitches involved. You will need to understand a basic knowledge of beginner crochet stitches (single crochet, half double crochet, and double crochet). The pattern includes written tutorials to help with the special stitches. There are blog links to photo tutorials if you need help with certain stitches.

The construction of the hat is fairly simple. First, the band of the hat is created in a long rectangle, and stitched together. Then, the body is crocheted on top of the band. Last, the top is woven together to create the crown. A pom pom is optional as a final touch.

Overall, this pattern is simple enough for an advanced beginner to grasp, and perfect for an intermediate skilled crocheter.
