I guess it’s a cowl? but being long enough to double wrap and a solid 18 inches wide it’s definitely large enough to wrap around your shoulders when the weather hits that sweet spot between comfortable and just slightly too chilly and you get to bust out some impressive looking knits.
Oh and speaking of impressive looking, the yarn does like, all the work. it’s basically a stockinette rectangle seamed into a circle, the patterning just happens that way when you have the right gauge and cast on, but nobody needs to know that.
Do note before you buy that if you’re super obsessed over perfection and straight lines this is not for you. These kits are all hand dyed so the self patterning will get wonky on you. The diamonds will be different sizes and will drift around a bit, and if you can’t handle that, move on. It’s ok, I won’t be offended.

Yarn:
This pattern was knit with two “Darwinian Evolution” kits from Feederbrook Farms. In all my experience with yarn I don’t know of any other product that is self-striping, and pooling, and marled and Dk, and has a sufficient skein circumference for this pattern to work with. So if you’re using any other product and it’s not working I am not here for you.

Gauge,
Ok so here’s the thing, my gauge was 22 sts in 4 inches. There are countless factors that go into how a yarn will pool, and it’s possible that even if you’re knitting to my same gauge, it won’t pool the same way. So be aware that you may have some false starts and need to change up your cast on or needle size before you can really get going on this. It’s just part of the process.
