I am so honored to have been able to use Republic of Wool yarn for this shawl, dyed by the magnificent Michele! Sadly, Michele is going through a very scary time right now, as she has been having difficulty with her eyes. From what she knows at this point, her doctors think she has Secondary Angle Closure Glaucoma being caused by cysts within her eyes. Her doctors have never seen anything like this in someone so young, but they do know she will need to have an operation to prevent vision loss. Most likely then followed by some other laser procedures. As you can imagine, this is incredibly stressful for her. Michele has made our world so much brighter and more colorful with her gorgeous yarn, and I can think of no better way to thank her than to donate some of the proceeds of this shawl pattern to her surgery fund! I hope we can all rally around her as she gets better. She has been so generous in dyeing up a few kits for Free Your Fade, all of which are unique. But please keep in mind, they will be very limited as she focuses on healing! THANK YOU SO MUCH TO EVERYONE WHO HAS HELPED SUPPORT MICHELE DURING THIS TIME!

Some of you amazing and generous knitters have been asking if there is anyway you can give a little more to help with Michele’s medical costs. Seriously, you are all just beyond kind and generous! Michele’s sweet friend, Mara (many of you know her as Orangeknits) has set up a GoFundMe campaign! Here is a link if you are willing and able. No matter if you can give financially, or just by sending Michele all of your healing thoughts and love - it just means so much. Thank you!!!

This shawl was created to be your favorite shawl pattern! Really relaxing garter stitch with engaging eyelet rows and endless color possibilities. It would be gorgeous knit up in one color, but you can just as easily use 20! I’ve extended the color melt sections for an even more cohesive fade, with easy instructions to add as many fade sections as you would like! The shawl is light weight and perfect year round when knit up in fingering weight yarn, but don’t let that stop you from knitting it up in any yarn weight you prefer to the size of your choosing!

Yarn: The possibilities are endless! This shawl can be knit using however many colors you want, with whatever yarn weight fits your fancy, to the size that fits you best! Free your fade and make it your own with this super adaptable pattern!!
