This is an oversized afghan square but could also be used as a pillow or a bag or anything else you can come up with! Originally this square was created as part of Ashlee’s 2020 Holiday Squares eBook. The chart was 81 x 81 to fit with the other patterns in the set. The bottom part of the star was cropped to fit into that chart size. An updated chart where the full star is shown on a chart size of 81 x 87 was created later and is available here in both techniques. A third update made both the square (with the bottom tip of the star missing) and the rectangle (with the full star) available in a solid, adjusted mosaic crochet format (chart sizes 77 x 77 and 77 x 83, respectively).

You will receive six files: three technique options to make the square and three technique options to make the full rectangle

The Locked Filet Mesh (LFM) interlocking crochet method uses only chain spaces and double crochets to create a mesh; two colors are worked alternately which creates the pattern.

Mosaic crochet is single crochet and double crochet stitches. The double crochet stitches cover some of the other color’s single crochet stitches to create the design. My patterns instruct you to cut your yarn at the end of each row. The back is striped but often gives a faint impression of the pattern on the front (sort of like illusion knitting). See an example here.
