This is an oversized afghan square. The swirl is the inside of a big wave in my mind.

Update: get the big wave in Into the Ocean

The sample was crocheted by Claudia using the LFM technique. She used Stylecraft Special DK yarn. Hook size 3.5 mm (E). Measures 40 cm.

She is left-handed, and she would have to read each line from end to beginning to get the swirl to go the original direction. I told her it would be ok to have a backwards swirl and then I liked the way her swirl looked so I wrote it up going both ways!

You will receive one file for each direction (swirl left, and swirl right). Each file contains the pattern written for interlocking, a single page chart (good for zooming in on screens) and the written instructions for mosaic. A separate, multi-page chart is also included for each direction.

Now includes a chart marked with X’s for mosaic crochet

The Locked Filet Mesh (LFM) interlocking crochet method uses only chain spaces and double crochets to create a mesh; two colors are worked alternately which creates the pattern.

Mosaic crochet is single crochet and double crochet stitches. The double crochet stitches cover some of the other color’s single crochet stitches to create the design. My patterns instruct you to cut your yarn at the end of each row. The back is striped but often gives a faint impression of the pattern on the front (sort of like illusion knitting). See an example here.
