Lucy’s Blanket follows a timeless design and construction for baby blankets, but with a modern twist of some unusual stitch patterns.

With a lovely lightweight yarn, and a gorgeous lace border, you can have everyday comfort and warmth in an heirloom that can be treasured by future generations.

The blanket is constructed in three different stages. First the centre diamond is knitted flat. It is worked from one point of the diamond to the opposite point, increasing in the first half and decreasing in the second half. Yarn overs are formed at the beginning of every row during the central diamond section. This makes it easier to pick up stitches for the second stage. These stitches are picked up around the edge of the diamond, and the border is knit in the round outwards. The third stage finishes the blanket with a lace edging that is knitted sideways on to the live stitches of the border, essentially casting off the stitches as you work the lace edge.
