Written and Charted pattern using American English knitting terms and abbreviations - glossary provided.

Very versatile style.

Fun to work ‘row below’ technique is simple to learn and memorize.

2 stitch/4 row repeats make a lovely checked ‘waffle’ texture that holds warmth yet breathes well.

Knit in the round with two colors (single hank each) of chunky yarn it works up fast.

Into/Exit rounds of Garter prevent curling.

Materials

2 Balls, 1 each of Contrasting Colors of Aran or Chunky yarn @ 120 -140 yard (110 -128 m) per 100 g

Gauge

Not critical but will affect size and yardage.

Select a yarn of about 8 WPI (wrap per inch) = heavy worsted, aran or chunky.

Measurements

Sample 48” by 6.75” (112 cm by 17 cm)

Easily adapted to other gauges of yarn/needle – just work a swatch back and forth with your chosen yarn.

Figure out your gauge and multiply stitches per inch by desired length and CO the nearest even number (stitch is a multiple of 2)
