Rivuline Shawl by Vashti Braha

Rivuline Shawl

A popular bow tie stitch pattern, adapted from standard crochet, was the inspiration behind this shawl. The Tunisian yarnover is used instead of chains to add the lacy eyelets, and alternating rows of Tunisian simple stitch with Tunisian purl stitch lend a lilting movement to the fabric’s surface, like rippling water.

The striking lacy swags are simply Tunisian eyelets that gradually increase in size. An invisible feature of this design is that the foundation chain is disguised as one of the Tunisian purl rows.
