Thank you to everyone who purchased this pattern during the Flag Wool & Fiber Festival’s 2020 online festival. Because of your purchase, a $1,250.00 donation was made to the Navajo & Hopi Families COVID-19 Relief Fund.

In order to further support critical grassroots relief efforts on Indigenous lands, 100% of the proceeds from this pattern continued to be donated during 2020. Additional donations were made to:

  • $200.00 to Chinle Planting Hope, an organization focused on community development projects and supplying hot meals and food baskets to Navajo Nation elders.
  • $450.00 to Protect Native Elders, an organization addressing the COVID-19 response on tribal lands in addition to addressing water, food and broadband access for native communities.

Rising over 12,000 feet above the Northern Arizona horizon, six volcanic peaks separate earth and sky. The San Francisco Peaks, traditionally known to the Hopi as Nuva’tukya’ovi (The Place of Snow on the Very Top) and to the Navajo as Dook’o’oosłííd (The Summit Which Never Melts), are a sacred place to thirteen tribes. The peaks are the home of ancestral spirits, medicinal herbs, and pure drinking water.

The Sacred Peaks Cowl pays homage to this beautiful and sacred land, from the towering ponderosa pines and quaking aspens that sit on the mountain flanks, to the golden meadows and dramatic night sky that surround them.

The Sacred Peaks Cowl is being released in celebration of Northern Arizona’s annual Flag Wool & Fiber Festival.

A yarn weight between 10-11 wpi will work well for this pattern. The cowl pictured was knit with an 11 wpi light worsted weight yarn. It is designed to be a larger cowl (27 inch circumference) and can be modified in size by removing one repeat.
