What do you see in the stitch motif? I opened the naming of this sock pattern up to the public and so many people saw an array of different things in the stitch motif. I heard butterflies, a string of fish, vines, waves… it was a very interesting experience to hear what everyone saw. Almost as if the motif evoked memories from the viewer with its enchantment, so Socks of Enchantment seemed the incredibly perfect name for this enchanting sock pattern.

Worked in the round, Socks of Enchantment contains both cuff-down and toe-up written directions and a chart for the pattern stitch. The pattern has instructions for a short row heel, but you may substitute whatever heel you enjoy using (links included for alternatives).

The pattern is written for the magic loop method for knitting socks; however, the design could be worked on double-pointed needles or mini-circulars instead should you prefer (ensure you denote your instep stitches with extra markers – so you don’t miss the placement of the heel or toe shaping).

This sock pattern shines well with solid, semi-solid, or lightly variegated/speckled yarns. Picking an appropriate yarn for this project will ensure your cables and textures don’t disappear in your work.
