A fun graphic slip stitch pattern lets you add interest without too much effort! Use heavy worsted or Aran weight yarn, or any yarn that gives you slipped stitch gauge. You can mix and match. It’s a great stashbuster!

Notes on Yarn Amounts
The Croft has generous yardage. Three skeins of Croft easily made 2 hats and a pair of mittens. If you switched out cuff colors, you could probably get some fingerless mitts as well!
Do you have small amounts of leftover Aran or heavy worsted yarn that’s too pretty to toss? This hat is also a great stashbuster! The multicolor version used a set of mini skeins in Windham, from Jill Draper, available from Modern Daily Knitting. The set will easily make two hats and two pair of mittens, including adult size.

Here’s some estimated amounts. Keep in mind exactly how much yarn is needed will depend on the thickness of your yarn and your gauge. See page 4 for some tips.
Hat: Total weight of Size Medium hat is 2.2 oz
(62 g), 113 y (103 m) total yarn. Each 4-row stripe takes about 9 y (8 m). Allow approximately 40 y (36 m) for ribbing.
Mittens: Total weight for a pair of Size Large is 2.8 oz (80 g).
Allow approximately 32 y (29 m) for the cuff color.
