Per Mom’s request, I modified the neckline, raising the V about an inch and a quarter from the pattern. To do this I worked an extra 8 rows in pattern before splitting the front. Then I decreased every row for 8 rows and then switched to decreases every right side row (as per the pattern) for the remainder of the neck shaping. (When decreasing on the wrong side rows I used ssp tbl and p2tog to match the skp and k2tog on the right side.) I also used a three-needle bind-off to join the straps instead of binding them off individually and seaming them.

The last picture shows how the neckline is different from the original pattern.
