The Hygge Hat is a DK weight beanie, featuring a stranded colorwork motif utilizing three complimentary colorways.

This design was inspired by the way a pattern on a well-loved vintage rug is faded in some areas while crisp and bold in others.

Use of a speckled colorway as one of your contrast colors, helps to create the worn / faded look. If you prefer higher contrast, be sure to select three distinct colorways.

18 sts / 25 rounds per 4” (10 cm) in stranded colorwork stockinette stitch worked on US 10 / 6 mm needle

Suggested Needles & Notions

• Needle A - US 6 / 4 mm, 16” circular (for brim)
• Needle B - US 10 / 6 mm, 16” circular or 1 size larger than needle C (for stranded colorwork portion)
• Needle C - US 9 / 5.5 mm, 16” circular or size needed for gauge, plus DPNs or a 32” cable to work magic loop method for decreases (for crown decreases)
• BOR marker + additional markers to delineate pattern repeats (optional)
• Darning needle

Note: If you have experience working with stranded colorwork and do not typically need to go up a needle size to match your Stockinette Stitch gauge, you may want to work the stranded colorwork with Needle C instead.
