I DON’T KNOW WHAT I’M DOING. I mean, I generally know what I’m doing… but I’ve never crocheted a garment before. So we’ll see how this goes.

Well this is the most addictive thing I’ve worked on in a while. I’m in the middle of the fourth pattern repeat and am doing a quick block to check my gauge. My swatch was right on for the size the repeat but my rows were a little stunted. In the full project, the piece is a little bit wide at the moment but I’m going to stretch it up to see how it shifts.

Separated for the front and back a few days ago! Can’t wait to see this come to fruition.

I finished the front and most of the left front shoulder shaping, then realized that the end of the shoulder shaping section for size 6 got dropped off the page. So while I wait for the Pom Pom team to get back to me about that, I started working on the back. So close to finishing, I can’t wait!

I just need to sew the shoulder seams, deal with the ends, and block this baby and she’s done!

I finished seaming the shoulders this morning and tried on the top. I love the fabric and the color but the length is not flattering for me. I’m going to rip back and re-work so that the top is two repeats shorter in the body.

Okay so, finally finished this yesterday and it’s blocking today.
In the end I took out 2 repeats of the body, worked the front and back as written, and then when starting to work the shoulders, realized something was slightly off somewhere but was too tired to care so made it work in the pattern.
I ended on row 8 of the shoulder shaping for size 6 but felt that it left too much of a corner where the diagonal shaping met the straight line of the shoulder, so I pulled back to end on row 7 and the shoulder and “sleeve” join is much smoother.
My gauge ended up being too loose, which for an oversized summer top is just fine. The piece measures about 30” wide, the body about 13” and the overall body 23” long while the piece is wet and blocking. I need to weigh the finished piece to figure out how much yarn it used. And take new photos.

In the end I just had to rip out all the shoulder shaping and work a few rows even in pattern (separating for the neck) because I couldn’t get the shoulder and sleeve section to play nicely. It’s probably becau3e my gauge was too wide but since I’m intending this to be an oversized summer too, that works for me.
Final weight of the garment was 345 g.
