Vesta is such an inconspicuous common word in Slovak …who knows how it has survived in many Roman languages in the meaning of sleeveless outerwear. It comes from Proto-Indo-European and meant “to dwell”, and “to stay”.
This, however, fits the lesser-known fact that VESTA is also an ancient Roman goddess of the domestic hearth and family. Although it has nothing in particular to do with wool, the parallel of warmth and cozy comfort, along with the matching name, is quite sufficient. May your home BE warm and cozy and may it STAY that way!

The vest is knitted from the bottom up. The back is extended with german short rows, so your kidneys will stay safe :-) After the body of the vest is knitted, the front and back pieces are knitted separately. These are joined at the shoulders and the stitches for the turtleneck are picked up.
You can easily adapt the pattern yourself - whether you want the vest longer, shorter, wider, or narrower. More experienced knitters can simply add a pattern or change the turtleneck to a different neckline.

You will need 300 g of Mokoša ONA for size S and M and 400g for L size.
